New Features!

We went ahead and pushed out some new features tonight (or.. this morning?).
  • New comic voting frame! It's got a bunch of cool buttons to help post your favorite comics to digg, facebook, twitter, reddit, stumbleupon, and delicious. Also, it won't ask you to vote after you've already voted.
  • Personal Lists and RSS feeds! Add some comics as favorites and they'll show up in your personal list. This makes it easy to catch all your favorite comics without getting lost in the Most Recent list.
  • IsItGoodToday.com! We've rebranded the story comics page so that it now asks "Is It Good?" You can jump right to the story section if you go to www.isitgoodtoday.com.
I'm excited to see if the social network links help boost traffic. I guess we'll see!

Big fan of the new bar. I think the voting is more pure now that I can't see how many people have voted one way or the other. Haven't tried the favorites feature yet, but it sounds like a good call.

Sounds like you guys are really getting on top of things here. Glad to see it. Something like this is definitely a benefit to comics and readers.

I really like the new favorites feature, but would it be possible to add that button to the bar? That would really make it easy to add a comic.

@Daisie Yeah, I thought about this before but the bar is so crowded as-is... I think we'll just have to make room for it. I'll talk to Zack about it next week when we both head back up to school.

It's great but Garfield Minus Garfield seems to have disapeared from the lists?

fixed!

A suggestion… because the links in the top 20 keep changing, it's hard to tell which comics you've already visited. So, maybe you could hide the voting buttons the comics you've already voted for? That'd help a lot already.

Also, maybe a comment icon, indicating whether the comic has at least one comment, would be useful too. The comment areas are quite dead right now, and this would help to tell where we can see some discussion, and hopefully popularize them.

Finally, any particular reason you're using pre-rendered meters? I guess using two images (stretched to simulate a full bar) would give more precise fractions.

I would like to be able to quickly jump through all of the top 20 comics of the day. Currently, the best way to do that now is to go back to the front page and click the next one. It would be nice to have up down buttons to move through the top comics in the toolbar when you clicked the name from the top list.

I feel like people would be more motivated to post comments if there was a way to view responses without having to look back through the comics. Could this be worked in to the current bar-based comment system?

Hey guys.

Thanks for the suggestions.

@aeinval: You can, just click on the arrows on either side of "Top 20".

And I like the idea of indicating that there are comments without clicking on the 'i', I'm hopefully going to put something up when I have some time this weekend.

Nice site; I quite enjoy it.

Might it be possible to allow users to specifically exclude webcomics that they may object to?

@ David Hilton - there already exists a mechanism which does what you require. It's called "not reading webcomics you object to".

Would you guys consider adding the option to "favourite" specific comics? Not series, but a specific comic that you liked.

I would really appreciate being able to block certain comics. Not because I *don't like them* (though that might be why some would do so), but because *I've already read them in my RSS reader*.

In fact, the top twenty usually already has about 10 I've already read.

I use your service mainly to find other comics I want to read daily.

Oh and by "comics" I meant the entire comic of course like PvP, not just one instance of it like PvP 2009-01-20.

You guys should Add nedroid.com to the comics list. i promise awesomeness to ensue.

when's the last time you guys have checked for new comic submissions? Hello With Cheese now qualifies, it's already got 80 strips up at http://www.hellowithcheese.com
Also, Dueling Analogs isn't listed here. Might also want to look in on Good Ship Chronicles, Johnny Wander and Applegeeks.
